FYI you can save usually a nail like that by making a hole in the nail so the blood can come out

Did something similar with my big toe, had an awful ingrown toenail for over a year that just would not grow normal and doctors would not attempt to surgically remove it, they always said it was just better to let it grow out. I was in so much pain all the time with shoes on and getting infections.. awful experience.
Ended up going to the gym and pulled a weight off a high up weight rack without paying attention, there was a 25 lb weight in front of the 45 lb weight I was reaching for, it fell about 4 ft right onto my awful ingrown toenail, surprising it didn’t break my toe but the pain I felt was next to none, absolutely crippled me for about 25 minutes almost to tears.
Needless to say the nail died exactly like your video and the new nail grew in perfectly straight, it was so relieving once the old nail fell off.
Wouldn’t recommend.

That happened to me but when it fully healed you can feel the damage on the nail. I tried using a custom brace to make it normal again. It became normal for 3 cuts and became messed up again.

I had to keep it elevated above my heart so it wouldn’t feel like it was about to explode!

I had that happen. I’m a guitar player and the nail was still connected but it has that large disconnected part, and like every other upstroke I’d catch it on a string. Basically kept me from playing for 6 months.
